Not dead yet

Black-cat version here

You'd never know it from my presence on the Net, but I'm still not dead. Work consumes me entirely. The fist closed about my life at the start of December and wont release till the end of this month. Even if my time is not fully occupied by it, my thoughts can do nothing but circle it.

I'd apologize for my anti-social behavior, but when am I ever *not* sorry about my failure to bond and communicate with my friends and acquaintances? Despite being a social brick wall, I have done a number of things. Attended Crucible fire ballet, all three days of the Edwardian ball, dancing classes with Adam, doodling at the Dicken's Fair, snowpocolypse* in Seattle, New Year's silent film & techno event, clubbing with a co-worker, mix CD exchange party (anyone want a copy of mine?), attending a terrible (and terribly expensive) show, and only one measly Dr. Sketchy's. On top of that, mix in a heavy dosing of Left 4 Dead and all you get is brain rot. Input is good, but excessive input in place of output is wasted.

The picture in here was done for a friend, based on the request: playing card, moon, cat, nature. Meh. I traced the cat from a photo. I've doodles from Dicken's, Dr. Sketchy's, and the Edwardian Ball but neither the energy or the computer/scanner physical connection to present them to you. Because I follow all trends set by [info]b_zedan I've been doing a pinch of embroidery of late, I finished one monster (rather cute, of course no photos yet), and am in the middle of my first paid commission. Literally in the middle. Scraps of cut up black faux fur surround me, I've my toes in the stuffing and thread on my blouse. Shattered my machine's needle last night so in the face of my growing lazyness, I guess I'll be handing sewing the sucker.

I don't know when I'll post next. The urge to do so has drained entirely from me. I'd much rather focus my attention on my art blog, but if I haven't been able to muster up the effort in over a year, I doubt I'll ever by able to increase the posting rate. Aside from Process & Thoughts, I like to include a pinch of flavor text with each posting and that's actually the hardest part to write

Trying to be social.... seeing Coraline with Theresa, had a fab-o time hanging out just recently arrived [info]flashfeather, making vacation plans with Trisha, and a possible New York trip coming up. Still not actually *feeling* social though. I fucking hate the winter. It may yet be the death of me.

* shot out to the most awesome [info]bluemoonshark, who I give credit to for the much used by me 'snopocolypse' term

If you end up feeling social, we should do something involving beyond walking distances, I have a new toy to show off :)

Ooooooooh! Yeeeeeeeaaaaaah.

Also, Adam and I have repeatedly stated "We should do something with Andy" or "We should do something with Andy and Amy" but are often in San Fran when the thought strikes us and it is often post 8pm.

Adam's ditching me this weekend for Seattle. Whatever. Can I invite myself to a Dim Summing event between you, me, and others as yet to be determined that would involve your majestic chariot of new? Isn't there a Dim Sum place you've gone with him that's good away from Mt. View? (With the minor catch that maybe? there will be a work meeting this Sunday that I need to attend)

I would be up for dim sum, there is a place kinda near Lawrence and 101 that is alright, though not terribly far away if that matters. What time is your meeting Sunday? I am told that Milpitas is where to go for dim sum, but I do not know where specifically. We should invite Brandon, Anna and Sierra too.

a possible New York trip

!!!

Keep me apprised.

Incidentally, did my package ever reach you? Or has its misguided address led it deep into the postal nether-worlds?

Alas I believe the unknown item you speak of has in fact been lost. I hold out hope- I *did* leave a forwarding address... Maybe some day it'll limp its way to my doorstop.

In happier news though, New York! Adam's going out there for business this month and I'm hopping over just for the tail end. I fly in Friday the 20th in the morning- would you be interested in meeting for lunch later that day?

Sure! Evenings/weekends work better for me, but I could nip out for a quick lunch. Think you can make it to Long Island City (one stop away from Grand Central on the 7)?

It strikes me as a poor idea then for lunch, if the time must be labeled as "quick". I'd fallen into the mental mind set here of extended lunches and extended work hours that make a late meal far less likely...

Dinner then Friday? Maybe I'll have napped by then an be far more pleasant company then someone who just stumbled off a plane.

Dinner sounds ideal. In what neighborhood are you staying, again?

So apparently I'm staying somewhere very near Penn Station.... no idea what neighborhood that counts as, but I think it means I can get anywhere with ease. Not sure where it is on the map even yet.... ah, the joys of not being involved with the trip planning details. I remember the subway system being nice and not too terribly frightening, so I'd be up for meeting anywhere the food be good. I tend to favor Japanese/Indian/Chinese but am happy to go anywhere you suggest.

Since it's a weeknight, let's meet in Long Island City around 6:30 PM. That will let us hang out for longer.

From Penn Station (34th St), you would walk or take the 1/2/3 train up to Times Square (42nd St). Then get on the 7 train, which only goes one direction (towards Main St / Flushing) from Times Square. You want to get off at the stop after Grand Central, which is Vernon Blvd / Jackson Ave, and call me.

Sound reasonable? See you soon!

I was just about to email you and see if you had suffocated under work!

I am super curious to see what you've been embroidering (and making too!). I'm so super meh about most needlework I see on the internet, so people with brains and personal style doing it is exciting.
